On Wednesday and Thursday I began the preparation of the remaining floors, the kitchen, living room, and hallway. When I left on Thursday evening all of the nail holes were filled in and left to dry over the next 2 days.
I took today, Friday, off in order to travel to the suburb of Wembley to see an endodondist about the molar that has been giving me trouble. The outcome was not good. The root under the gold crown is cracked and there is no way of saving the tooth. I have an appointment with next Wednesday morning with my regular dentist to discuss the options after the extraction.
Tomorrow I'll be back on the job sanding the floors with 120 grit belts, then vacuum cleaning the area very carefully, and finally wiping the entire area with methylated spirits. This will allow me to begin varnishing first thing on Monday morning. At present the plan is to varnish the kitchen and and living rooms on Monday and Tuesday, then varnishing the kitchen and hallway on Wednesday and the hallway alone on Thursday.
This will mark the completion of the floor work, with three coats of varnish on the high-use kitchen floor and two coats on the others. I must then stay away from the house for 3-5 days in order to give the hallway time to cure.
