Going Bush

I'll be taking a 2-week break from the house starting on Monday.

Birds Australia is sending out three 4WD vehicles on an expedition to the Great Western Woodlands, SE of Balladonia.  (http://www.dpaw.wa.gov.au/management/off-reserve-conservation/the-great-western-woodlands)  Our brief is to make bird surveys (about 5 per day) and assess the state of the goat tracks that criss cross the area for future surveys.  We'll be taking at least one chain saw to clear tracks where possible.

In one of the 4WD vehicles will be a couple who have extensive experience with expeditions deep into the remote areas of Australias.  In another will be Mark, who seems to be an all-arounder.  In the third will be Brenda and myself in her Suzuki Vitara.

The only bird experts will be Brenda and Mark.  I'll be there in a support capacity because I can barely tell a hawk from an ibis.
