Reading Lights

I've just completed another little job.

I've been wanting to set up LED lights on the wooden headboard of  my bed but I was not able to find anything suitable in Midland.   However, during last week's visit to Albany I found just what I wanted at a local shop.  I took measurements and told Haley the manager that I would telephone her from Perth if the lights could be fitted onto the headboard.  The fit was good, I placed the order with Haley, and on Tuesday I found the box at my front door.

Cables Neatly Strapped

The lights were supposed to be fitted by a licensed electrician but I've done too much wiring in this house to worry about that.  The first problem was to find the leads with plugs.  After establishing that I there would be 3 wires (some lights are not grounded) I visited Bunnings and purchased two 2-meter extension cords at the ridiculously cheap price of $2.50 each.  Back at the house I chopped off the socket ends and prepared the wires.

I had to do some drilling through the headboard, being very careful about the placement of the mounting plate.

I used Google to confirm the wire colors and to verify that L was the same as A (active), to be certain that I got the polarity right.  After connecting each light I used the multi-meter to verify continuity between  between each pin on the plug and the corresponding wire on the light.

For the record, the lights are Oberon Model No. OBER1FWLSC from Cougar Lighting.  I purchased them at Avenue Lighting, Albany.   They cost $55 each with $15 shipment for a total of $125.
