I've just completed the annual maintenance of the verandah flooring.
Last week I scrubbed the decking with soapy water using a bristly broom. After allowing it to dry over the weekend I spent several hours over the last two days laying down a coat of "Cuprinol" deck oil then making a second application along the outer edges, which are most exposed to the weather.
The deck was my first building effort. It was 1977, I had no building experience, and the only tools that I had were a hammer and a screwdriver. After 39 years the verandah doesn't seem the worse for wear, a testament to the jarrah wood and extensive use of bolts and heavy (coach) screws.
Nice wood floor! I like the color.
