Bird Deterrent

In my 41 years at this house I've had less than ten bird strikes that I'm aware of into the picture window in dining room.  The birds see the reflection of the trees and think they are flying through a portal to familiar landscape.   Fortunately only two or three have resulted in the death of the bird, but even that is too many for my liking.  Last week I had a mature bronze wing fly into the pane.  I found it later, with no evidence of trauma, but nevertheless dead as a door nail.  Probably broke its neck.

I want to compromise the view through the window as little as possible, so I have started with a minimal measure, prepared to escalate if the need arises.

View from Outside

It is a transfer of dolphins in a stained glass style, designed for windows.  I found it in my garage and its packaging indicated that it was purchased at the dolphin resort of Monkey Mia, up north at Shark Bay.  I'm hoping that the sharp eyed bird will get a glimpse of the mysterious object and back off.

Let's hope that it works.
