Bench Top Fitted

ACT (Australian Counter Tops) had requested that we be on site at 7 AM, and both Paul and I were present as requested, but the ACT people did not show up until about 9 AM.

Paul and I had worked hard to prepare for the work. Paul had constructed a frame to conceal the flue from the exhaust fan and drilled the holes in the cabinet and ceiling for the exhaust hose.  I had laid 3 coats of paint on the kitchen walls.  I wanted this work to be completed before the counter top was installed and we would no longer be able to work off planks running across the tops

Ken and Louis at Work

The young ACT people, Ken and Louis, worked calmly and methodically and produced a result of the highest standard.  The dealt with problems of cabinets slightly out of plumb and walls not quite square very will.  After inspecting one of the nearly invisible joins I told them "You guys do great work."  They had worked hard.  Their 2 hour estimate blew out to over 3 hours.

The accompanying photos show the kitchen with its new counter and splashback.  The granite splashback was expensive but rather than luxury I was interested in the practicality of having no grouting in the splashback to gather mold and dirt.  The two containers in on the sink will be left overnight until the silicone sealant has set.
Spot the Seam!

On Monday Paul will bring an electrician to wire up the cooker and oven.  He will have to split the two-phase setup to two single phase services.  He will also wire up the double light switch for the kitchen light.

Paul will have to fit all of the door handles, adjust the doors, and do some minor cabinet trimming work to finish off the job.
