There has been steady progress since the last blog.
I have fitted the GPO's in the front bedroom after some unexpected difficulty. The last GPO had double wire connections and yet as far as I knew that GPO was the end of the chain. Worse, one of the wires broke off at the end and after stripping another 10mm of bare wire I found that the cabling was not long enough to allow me to wire up the GPO. Paul had used glue as well as screws to reinstate the skirting boards so I had no way of investigating the situation from that room.

I went to the "office" bedroom and removed the skirting board on the common wall with the front bedroom and solved the mystery. In the 1970's I had taken power off the sole GPO in the room to supply power to 4 more that I had set up along the skirting boards. When the house was rewired during my absence the electrician must have seen no sense in having a GPO in a closet so he blanked it off. Unfortunately that was the GPO supplying the room so he stretched the cable to that GPO in the front bedroom and was barely able to make the connection. With the skirting board removed I was able to get enough cable for connecting up that GPO, so now the front bedroom is serviced by four double GPO's.
A few days ago Paul completed his work in the living room and hallway and handed the rooms to me for painting. He asked me to strip the "office" bedroom and when the arrived this morning the entire room had been stripped for renovation, including all of the electrics.

Last week I managed to put a coat of primer on the bedroom and living room windows and today put the first coat of enamel on the living room windows. When the windows have been painted with 2 coats of enamel I will turn my attention to painting the living room and hallway ceiling.

I am including photos of the new access to the attic, which is now from within the wardrobe in the office. It does get the access out of the way very nicely, and avoided the complication of cutting an access through the post renovation double ceiling.
