The final cost of the driveway paving project came in at $21,869.10. There was an additional charge of $600 for the extra work in laying the pattern of brick (45 degree herringbone) that I had selected, and there was another charge for work in excavating two large concrete drain pipes from the days when the drainage of Beenong Road was an open ditch and my narrow driveway passed over the two pipes. The actual charge came in below the $20,000 that I had estimated when I began planning the renovation, but the 10% GST (Goods and Services Tax) added another $1988.10 to the cost.
I've got no problem with the cost of the work. The design, materials, and workmakship were first class and several passers by have complimented me on the work.
This brings the total cost to date of the house renovation project to $63,050.
I took the accompanying panoramic photo from the lower end of the driveway at the lemon tree.
