Waterproofing

Today, Saturday, Christian put in two hours waterproofing the shower section.  He put a wide strip of fiberglass reinforcing tape along every edge of the shower, including along the floor boundary.  He also reinforced the recessed alcove for soap, shampoo, etc.

Then he coated the entire area with blue "Mapelastic Aqua Defense" waterproof material.  On Monday he will return with Brad and lay on the second coat of Mapelastic while Brad begins the floor tiling.

It is all happening, and I am pleased with the quality of the work and the rate of progress.

On Thursday night I attended with Brenda a dinner and presentation  at the Fremantle Sailing Club where I was given the honour of being named Cruiser of the Year.  The club commodore, Bill Burgess, presented the award to me, and there will be an article in Australia's "Cruising Helmsman" magazine.  Arnold would have had a place at the table had he been in Australia, but the group was well aware of his participation in the circumnavigation.

I was back at the house yesterday morning and spent 2 hours taking a load of rubble and other material to the tip at Chidlow.  It felt good to start cleaning up this building site.

This morning I woke up to my favorite alarm, the 'beep beep beep' of the bread maker accompanied by the aroma of fresh bread permeating the cottage.  It took me almost a year to master the replacement bread maker after my previous one failed after about 30 years of service.  The tops of the loaves kept collapsing.  Finally out of intuition more than logic I added a tablespoon of olive oil to the mix and I haven't looked back sense.
