Working Shower

The tiling was not finished until four days later, last Monday the 28th.  Three days after that, yesterday, Paul was able to spend a day finishing off the wall flushing work.  Unfortunately because the work will dry slowly in this damp and chilly weather he will have to the sanding on another day, and I expect him to return in three days, Monday the 4th.  Once he has completed the sanding I will be able to start the painting.

While he was here Paul fitted the toilet and prepared the fitting holes through the tiles and into a piece of wood that he had put in place earlier. Everything looked fine: the toilet was fairly level, fit nicely against the wall, and he had put the plumbing in the correct positions.  He then removed the toilet pending the completion of the painting of the walls.

However, he did leave me with a working shower. In the photo you can see that the lower fitting has work to be done, and the hand piece that will be attached at the lower end of the rail (the vertical pipe) is not in place. But the shower works beautifully and for the first time in weeks I will not have to bathe out of a bucket and rinse myself outdoors.  We tested the shower and it puts out a beautiful pattern.
Working Shower at Last

The toilet side is working out OK.  I pee into a bucket and for the serious stuff I drive up the hill to the community hall after 9 AM when the toilets have been cleaned and the doors open.  Yes, it takes some discipline, but it works OK.

Today I will visit Vanessa at The Paint Place to select and purchase the paint and materials for the bathroom.
