New Painting

This is a real one, painted in acrylic by Kerry Scally of Dumbleyung, a country town in the Wheatbelt region about 260 km SE  of Perth.  It is somewhat abstract, titled "Sailing in the Moonlight".

On the return from our recent bird survey expedition on the south coast near Hopetoun  Brenda and I stopped a Lake Grace and visited a temporary art gallery set up as part of the "2017 Southern Art & Craft Trail" which began at Lake Grace and ended at Hopetoun.  We met Jean, who hails from Narrogin.  Jean asked us to mind the store while she crossed the street to purchase some milk and soon we were sitting in a comfortable sofa enjoying a long conversation over cups of tea and biscuits (cookies).

There must have been 50 works of art by regional artists on display and I was attracted to this piece because of its vivid colors and subject matter. Technically it showed the amount of work that had been put into it, and it had been signed by Kerry.  I paid a modest $200 for the painting.  The theme for art work this year was "long and narrow", hence the dimensions of the canvas.

I was not able to take the painting immediately because it had remain on display until the end of exhibition but Jean told me that it would be delivered  to the Perth area in about two weeks time.  In fact it was delivered to my house at abut 8 PM last Wednesday night by Kerry and Jane, who live in the Lake Grace area.  The painting was well protected in bubble wrap and arrived in original condition.

Country people are the salt of the earth.  I like dealing with them.  They size you up and the rest is done on trust.

The painting  on the right is a little watercolor scene in the Walpole area painted by long-time neighbor Dode Trusty.
