Visit by Telstra

I expect a visit by a Telstra technician at the Darlington house tomorrow 10AM-2PM.

They claim to have checked the line to the splice where it meets the house but they could not get access into the house to check all of the way to the first phone jack.

This points out a flaw in the system.  When the request to Telstra is made the organization doesn't seem to have records indicating whether or not the incoming telephone line is connected to a junction box.  The assumption that Exetel had to make was that there was a junction box, which defined the Network Boundary Point, which meant that I did not need to be present during the Telstra visit.  When Telstra visited instead of notifying Exetel that they would need access to the house they simply left me a card with 'no fault found' ticked off and Exetel informed me to check the line for service.  I consider that response unprofessional and immature. Did they think that the problem would simply go away?  Were they hoping that the problem lay within my domain?  During the visit I will politely point out the shoddy setup at the pole and ask them to tidy things up to minimize the risk of a future call by me complaining of noise on the line.

I'll include with a happier note: a photo that shows the nice view from the top of my property over the school to the Kalamunda hills, with the blue tinge on the right side of the scene.  On those hills I can see every TV transmitter in Perth, which gives me great TV reception from the line-of-sight towers.  I get great wireless telephone reception too.
