Appliances and Sink Purchased, More Progress in Room

We have had to productive days.

Yesterday Paul fitted the doors and drawers to the floor cabinets which gave us a better picture of what the final result will look like.  He also did more wall paneling and some plaster work.

I spent much of the day in the Midland area trying to finding an electric oven and cook top as well as a sink.  By the end of the day I had a Bosch HBA13B252 electric oven (http://www.bosch-home.com.au/appliances/cooking/ovens/single-ovens/HBA13B252A.html) which have been reduced several hundred dollars by both The Good Guys and Harvey Norman because the model is being phased out.  I was attracted to it because it is actually made in Germany and has triple glazing on the door.  I paid $799 for it and did not pay for an extension of the 2-year warranty.

This afternoon I found a Westinghouse PHR284U electric cook top (http://www.westinghouse.com.au/Product?model=PHR284U&categoryGuid=FFA3948F-1D2D-45F2-8351-2C9B3C35212C) from The Good Guys in O'Connor and picked it up on the way to the house.  It was on special (isn't everything after Christmas?) and I paid $531 for it.

I also found a double sink at Bunnings for $135.  Before I made the purchase I telephoned Paul to make sure that the sinks would fit within the cabinet perimeter.  The tap will be easy to find because of the wide selection available.

While I was shopping Paul continued making progress.  The coping is now up along the perimeter of the ceiling as well as down the corners of the walls.  He has set up the quadruple GPO at the dining room side of the counter and set up the wiring for a new GPO to service the refrigerator and microwave.  I had made mistakes in setting up the old GPO in the 1970's.  It was a single instead of a double, requiring the use of a double adapter.  Worse, it was at floor level which meant that the refrigerator had to be slid out in order to plug it in or switch the GPO on and off when required.  Worst of all, the GPO was on the same circuit as my audio system in the lounge, and I had been hearing interference whenever the refrigerator came on.

Paul will take the weekend off and I expect to see him mid Monday morning because he must first visit Bunnings and get the gyprock sheets for the next room to be done, the front bedroom.  He left me some homework for that room during the weekend.  I am to remove all of the skirting (base) boards, some of the wood trimming around the windows, and the vertical coping.  I hope that this means that he expects to finish the kitchen work very soon.  He told me that assembling and mounting the overhead cupboards will be a relatively simple job.  When the cabinets are up I will be able to contact the stone counter people for a visit and quotation, and Paul will be able to move on to the bedroom job.

On Sunday morning Brenda will accompany me to Bunnings in Armadale for purchasing the overhead lighting for the kitchen.

At his suggestion I picked up 8 liters of ceiling paint this morning so I expect to begin painting in the kitchen at first opportunity.
