See some daylight

Up to now the effort has been difficult because it seemed that with each hour of work we were going deeper into the mine, so to speak.  Today I was elated to feel like we were now on our way out of the mine with a glimpse of daylight up ahead, so to speak.

Paul has had a very productive week and it looks like by the end of tomorrow both the living room and hallway will be ready for painting and floor work.  Also, I got word from ACT that the kitchen counter top will be installed on the morning of Wednesday 5 February.  Once the counter top is in we'll be able to call in the electrician to set up the oven and cooker while Paul sets up the plumbing and soon I will have a functioning kitchen.  By then if things go well I will have just about completed the painting of the kitchen, front bedroom, living room, and hallway.

I hope that during my 3 week absence for the club cruise to Geographe Bay Paul will be able to prepare the second bedroom (to be my office) and the sitting room next to the lounge, which would represent the finish of all structural work in the interior of the house.  I'll then be able to paint the second bedroom then focus on sanding and sealing the floors of the house with good prospects of having that finished before the advent of the rainy season in June.

But let's not get too far ahead of ourselves.  I've got 2 weeks of lots of painting ahead of me.

The photos of the hallway show no access to the attic.  Paul made the suggestion that we move the access to the wardrobe in the office room.  It will be an interesting arrangement where I'll have to sit on the upper shelf of the wardrobe in order to climb into the attic, but it makes sense to keep this access out of sight.  The wardrobe will be strong enough to support me, given its heavy construction with jarrah and the use of bolts rather than nails.
